Our heart not only beats for the hotel and restaurant business: we also love all things design, art and culture. It all comes together under our historic roof, blending into an extraordinary whole to make Beau Séjour what it is: a place for people who are looking for something different and beautiful.
Daniel is our go-to designer. He has had a big impact on Beau Séjour's design identity, in no small part thanks to his furniture line. The "BS Collection" blends into the historic and sometimes wild ambience of our boutique hotel and now comprises eleven different objects, from armchairs to luggage racks.
Nina infuses even more character into our spaces with her art. Her works range from experimental installations to sculptures and large-scale paintings. They can be poetic or inspiring at times, irritating or tongue-in-cheek at others. But whatever they are, they always provoke a reaction.
Since 2020, each year we have been inviting an author to spend three weeks at Beau Séjour. We offer our residents an opportunity to write while looking out at Carl Spitteler Quai - winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1919.
We also commission a poster for each literary residency. The selected artist gets carte blanche for the poster's design. The 2025 edition, featuring author Berni Mayer, is by Michel Kiwic.
From January 23 to February 13, 2025, we welcomed the German author, journalist, translator and podcast producer Berni Mayer as our fifth literary resident. Mayer studied German and English and has worked as editor-in-chief at MTV and VIVA Online. The 50-year-old most recently published the social novel "Das vorläufige Ende der Zeit" (DuMont, 2023). In the same year, Mayer's first non-fiction book "Anleitung zum Traurigsein" was published. He read from both works on January 31, 2025 at the Hotel Beau Séjour.

The BS Collection combines contemporary design and high-quality craftsmanship. The furniture collection was developed for us by Daniel Hunziker, and has expanded over the years and now includes eleven objects. The armchair, the two- and three-person sofas as well as the side tables are available as small series and can be ordered from the traditional manufacturer Girsberger according to individual wishes.
